I've been brewing up an idea for a new holiday tradition for some time now... Here it is:
Mainly, the idea is that as a Christmas gift to the family, I propose to organize, layout and have produced a Salgado Year Book, of sorts. It will be a nice keepsake- to help us keep more in tune with each other as a large and regionally spread out family; and to enjoy reviewing as the years pass.
The first book would be "Salgados: 2009"
On each page of the year book, one person or married couple will have a page.
I also intend on including a page of dates for reference: birthdays, wedding and death anniversaries, and holidays.
Finally, there will be additional photo pages for the major holidays during which we usually gather: Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's. If there are other special occasions that year such as weddings or milestone anniversaries; they will have a page as well.
The handful of you whom I've shared this idea with seem very enthusiastic and supportive about this proposed tradition of this keepsake. However, in order to do this successfully, there must be ground rules.
Each person/couple must submit (to be included on his/her page) the following information by the deadline:
1. Name/Nickname
2. Personal: birth date MM/DD/YYYY
3. Residential Location (city, state, or region; take your pick)
4. Optional: email address
5. Optional Information: Occupation/Student/Relationship Status
6. Personal Photos of Yourself: 4-6 photos from 2009 (300 dpi for good reproduction)
7. Personal Year’s Summary, Quote or other broadcast blurb: Limit 200 characters.
DEADLINES:
Personal Submissions Deadline: November 20, 2009
New Year’s Holiday Submission Deadline: 2 weeks following New Year’s Day (January 14, 2009)
Easter Holiday Submissions Deadline: 2 weeks following Easter
Thanksgiving Holiday Submissions Deadline: 2 weeks following Thanksgiving
Christmas Holiday Submissions Deadline: December 26, 2009
Earliest Anticipated Date of Delivery, if ordered immediately: January 6 + shipping time
These hardcover keepsake books will be available for purchase online directly through the publisher site; making shipping and inventory much simpler for all of us. And yes, I checked- they deliver to the Philippines. However, please be aware, that IF WE DO order at least 10 in a single order (shipped to one place), there is a 10% off discount that we are eligible for. Based on the publisher's current costs, I anticipate that these professional grade, hardcover 8x10 books will run about $50 plus shipping.
I am interested in your thoughts and if you think we can all work together to do this. Please let me know.
Thanks.
Love,
Rozli
