CHANGES TO THE WEBSITE

Submitted by
Raphael "Jonel" Salgado

I apologize for not being able to have the site updated recently as I have been preparing changes and learning new ways to implement more interactivity on this website.  First and foremost, the use of the Blogger service (see http://www.blogger.com) will permit all contributors to post news at
anytime, from any location.  However, if the Blogger service goes
down, then we're all back at square one.  I am also considering using
the Forums section for contributors to post the news, and then visitors
can react in another topic inside the Forum.  Let me know what you
think.  As for the recent events, I would like to announce the happy
marriage of Rob and Tav.  We have a whole boatload of pictures
here and even more on Tav's website (see
http://www.taviare.com/photos).

TIANG ARING

Submitted by
Raphael "Jonel" Salgado

Posting news and events are not always a happy or rewarding thing, especially in the case of this type of news.  We received word from the Philippines that the Rosario "Tiang Aring" Salgado Jose peacefully passed away Monday morning at the age of 91 in Cuyapo, Nueva Ecija.  She was the last of their generation, and she will be buried this
Thursday.  Please keep her in your prayers.  I also received
some information to add her and her siblings into the family tree, but I
would appreciate any assistance in providing as much complete and detailed
information as possible.

WELCOMING OUR NEWEST FAMILY MEMBER: SIMONE ANGELIQUE MURILLO

Submitted by
Raphael "Jonel" Salgado

Well, it looks like Thea fulfilled a lifelong dream - to be a mommy!  And with husband Joe, Simone Angelique Murillo was born June 12th at 8:13 PM, coming in at 9.5 pounds and measuring 20 inches tall.  With their new beautiful baby comes new titles for Tong and Rita and Lolo and Lola, not to mention Ariel as Tito, and so on!  Hop over to our
Picture Gallery and see Simone and the family.
Thea looks quite relaxed now, and the new grandparents couldn't be
more proud.  I personally love that "World's Greatest Lolo" shirt -
you won't find that one at Target!  Congratulations again!

WELCOMING OUR NEWEST FAMILY MEMBER: JOSH GALEN MANEY

Submitted by
Raphael "Jonel" Salgado

Josh Galen was born May 9th to brand-new parents Bill and Angeli Maney.  Pictures are already up on their website - don't you just love technology?  Althea is having her baby shower this coming Mother's Day, May 13, 2001, so it looks like it's all about the children now!  Heck, even I'm turning 28 on Monday.  Time's fun when you're having flies.  Be
sure to check out the updates to the photo gallery, as Lino Chanyungco has
added his own digital camera shots of this year's Easter party at Chad and
Bess' house.  Even Ging Calungcagin has some interesting photos for
display.  Anyone else care to send their very best?

EASTER CELEBRATION AND SALGADO.ORG

Submitted by
Raphael "Jonel" Salgado

How about someone else submitting some news?!?  Hello, anyone there?!?  Anyhow, as fun as the Easter party was at Chad and Bess' house, I managed to let many of you know that Salgado.org is in need of their attention.  Even if I didn't have the energy to run around with my digital camera and take a snapshot of every family member there, at least I was able to tell those who have
cameras or recent photos that I need to process them for the website.
Now, I know there were some concerns about what information would be
posted, but I assure you, each family member will have their own page with
the following fields (subject to change at their request)

  • First name

  • Nicknames

  • Month and day of birth

  • E-mail address(es)

  • Instant messaging information (ICQ, MSN, AIM/AOL, Yahoo, etc.)

  • Personal web page (if they have any)

  • Favorite food

  • Hobbies

  • Greatest accomplishment

  • Goals and aspirations

  • Motto or favorite phrase

There will be at least one photo for each family member, and they can have as many as they can fit on the page.  If they want to update their personal profile page or add/remove pictures, they can simply make a request to, say, profiles@salgado.org.  I'll have each of their names linked to their names on the birthday page and
the genealogy.  That way, if it's their birthday, or they simply want
to get in contact with them, you can come right to Salgado.org and
click their name and send an e-mail message.  Let's do this,
people!
  Start out by filling out
the form
and try to include a photo now, if you can!  If you need to send a
picture through the regular mail (you know, with a stamp and an
envelope!), visit my personal website
and use the address provided on the
Contact Me

page.

PERSONAL PROFILE PAGES AND MAILBOXES

Submitted by
Raphael "Jonel" Salgado

Ok, everyone…  Salgado.org will be undergoing more changes and updates very soon.  What I would like to have on the site is for each member of the family to have their own personal profile page with at least a couple pictures of each.  Fun, personal questions such as “favorite food,” “favorite
movie
,” “goals &
aspirations
,” and “accomplishments
are things I’d like to have each person answer so that we can have a
little piece of everyone on the site.  You can tack on poems, little audio
clips, links, or whatever you like on each of your pages.

Thea and Joanna’s birthday is coming up, and I know a small number of us have digital cameras, regular cameras, and scanners.  If we could pool our resources, we can all make Salgado.org a more fun-filled place to visit, and packed with good stuff and information.  I’d also like to get the younger generation and cousins
involved as well, and I think them interviewing the Tito’s,
Tita’s, Lolo’s, and Lola’s, and all those
“to-be” would be fun for everyone to experience.  Then, I can compile all
the information and pictures and link it nicely to the birthday calendar,
family tree, or what-have-you.

Rob and Tav’s wedding is coming up, and that will probably be another time to get this all completed – but I would like to start as early as possible, like Thea/Jo’s party.  So, if you have access to recent photos of just yourself closeup, or have a digital camera, or a regular camera
with someone to scan the developed pictures, it’s only a few minutes out
of each of your time.  It would really benefit the site and have a reason
to be updated more often.

Finally, there will be a switch-over soon for Salgado.org to be pointing to the correct location (the new server and site, ip 64.177.130.254).  If you are interested in having your own
name@salgado.org
forward to an address of your choice, or would like
to have your own POP3 mailbox set up on the site, please let me know.
This is a big move that I would like to have the smoothest transition
possible for.

A BIG OOPS

Submitted by
Raphael "Jonel" Salgado

It took me long enough to realize that this website is plastered with advice to send e-mail to webmasters@salgado.org for suggestions, submissions, etc.  Little did I remember that the e-mail addresses aren't set up properly, since the domain name Salgado.org is not tied into the new server directly - it's only forwarded from the original site.  What does that mean?  Any e-mails sent to webmasters@salgado.org
is still being routed to the Martinez' servers in Chicago and may be be
sitting somewhere or lost, unless Joanna is able to capture e-mail not
routed to the server correctly..  I apologize for the
inconvenience.  Until we have it all up and have Salgado.org
pointing to the correct server, you can drop me your updates, suggestions,
submissions, pictures, etc. at salgado.org@raphael143.com
and I will take care of it on this site.

FORUMS AND MORE

Submitted by
Raphael "Jonel" Salgado

I decided to finally sit down and read a lot on how to add some really nice stuff to a website.  So, here it is - our first bulletin board online.  Everyone can post their ideas immediately and get feedback.  We can coordinate parties better, get help from anyone, or just leave a "Hi" for everyone to see.  Same goes with the new Guestbook.  I think with enough
encouragement, everyone will get a chance to use it.  Let me see if I
can get a kid's keyboard for Mia...  She'll be e-mailing soon
enough!  Bill and Angeli have a new web page with a bunch of new
photos, so check it out by going through the Media
Gallery
.  Finally, if you're visiting this site today, January
4th, you'll notice the dateline above automatically states that it's Art's
birthday.  That will go for the rest of us as well!  So, happy
birthday to Art, and best wishes!

SALGADO.ORG PROJECT #1

Submitted by
Raphael "Jonel" Salgado

In rebuilding this site, one of my first ideas, though it's probably not original in the least, is to have online photos of each of  the family members.  Each one can have their own "page" containing a small description or bio of themselves, maybe some good links you can share with others, etc.  And, since it's hard to get everyone together at parties, get-togethers, and
occasions, so keeping the photos current would be a nice way to "show
your face" every once in a while when you can't be around.  With
costs for digital cameras and scanners constantly dropping, and with
cousins and relatives who have digital cameras and scanners nearby, I feel
that this is a realistic project that can be put together quickly.
And, it's fun!  Let me know if you're interested, and we'll start it
up!

SURPRISE!  KAHLIL TIES THE KNOT

Submitted by
Raphael "Jonel" Salgado

...And it's not the ones on his Nike's!  Okay, I admit I overheard him say this was going to happen, but I didn't know when or how it was going to happen.  So, congratulations to Kahlil and let's welcome Aivy Won-Salgado as the latest addition to the family!  Check out the Media Gallery for these paparazzi-style photos of Tito Tony's growing family basking in the warm Hawaii weather - while
some of us are still trying to deal with the snow in the northeast!
It's about time, Kahlil!  Remember, there will be a church wedding
scheduled in 2002, so this way we can all celebrate this special occasion
with them again!  I wonder if the invites will be e-mailed just
like this surprise, too...

ALL-NEW SALGADO.ORG IS ALMOST HERE

Submitted by
Raphael "Jonel" Salgado

Well, the new site is almost up!  Salgado.org has moved to a new, whopping 200 megabytes of space on some fast server in California, thanks to NoMonthlyFees.com.  Since I currently have Raphael143.com at the same place, they offered me a discounted fee for another 200MB.  So, I plopped down the amount and opened it up for all of us here to store photos, video clips, sound clips,
you name it.  I will shortly be setting up the mailing system so that
you can easily subscribe and unsubscribe on your own.  If any of the
Salgados own a business, side-business, or simply want a piece of the
space here, we can certainly accommodate you, or you can get your own
space and domain name (dot-com) for $100 - flat!  Contact me at website@raphael143.com
as soon as possible, because they're ending this extended special offer on
January 7th!

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Submitted by
Raphael "Jonel" Salgado

Just a quick note to say "Happy New Year!" to everyone.  It's a brand new year, technically a brand new millennium, and here we go with a brand new website!  Remember, this website is for everyone, so please send us your news, pictures, and more and send it to the webmasters!  Also, if you want to become a webmaster of this site, let me know!
Salgado.org would like to take the time to give a sincere and heartfelt
thanks to our Martinez cousins at InterGlobal
Communications
for hosting the original Salgado.org for quite some
time.  We greatly appreciated it.
